Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Senior Mining Engineer in Centurion, Gauteng, to drive operational excellence. The role combines hands-on mine planning with strategic oversight, delivering optimized plans while ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-efficient production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in mining engineering, with a strong focus on open-pit or underground operations management.
• Proficiency in mine planning and design software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac).
• Solid understanding of mine ventilation, ground control, and blasting techniques.
• Experience with operational budgeting, cost control, and production reporting.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee short-term and long-term mine plans, ensuring alignment with production targets and economic objectives.
• Manage and optimize daily mining operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects or expansions.
• Implement and monitor adherence to stringent health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Utilize mine planning software to generate schedules, assess equipment needs, and optimize resource allocation.
• Supervise and mentor junior mining engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
