Placements24 is seeking an experienced Mine Planning Engineer in Vereeniging, Gauteng to develop detailed short- and long-term mine plans, Optimize production schedules, and allocate equipment. You will work with geologists and surveyors to ensure accurate data integration and regulatory compliance.

The role requires 5+ years in mine planning, proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac and Leapfrog, and a strong grasp of mining methods, rock mechanics and economics. Hybrid work arrangement offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in mine planning, design or operations.
• Proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac and Leapfrog.
• Strong knowledge of mining methods, rock mechanics and mine economics.
• Familiarity with South African mining regulations and environmental standards.
• Open-pit and/or underground planning experience required.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork across multidisciplinary groups.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed short-term and long-term mine plans with schedules and equipment allocation.
• Create 3D mine models using Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac, and Leapfrog.
• Collaborate with geologists, surveyors and operations personnel to integrate data.
• Perform feasibility studies and economic analyses for projects.
• Assess geotechnical and operational risks in planning activities.
• Monitor performance and adjust plans as needed.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation for management and regulators.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental regulations.
• Evaluate new mining technologies to improve planning efficiency.
• Contribute to reserve estimation and resource modeling processes.
