Placements24 is seeking a results-driven Chemical Engineer for our client, a leading chemical manufacturer in Sandton, Gauteng. The role focuses on process optimization and efficiency improvements, using data analytics and engineering principles to enhance plant performance and reduce costs.

The ideal candidate has a Chemical Engineering degree, at least six years of experience in process engineering, and hands-on experience with Lean or Six Sigma, SPC, and process simulation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years in process engineering with a focus on optimization and efficiency.
• Proven experience with process improvement tools and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an aptitude for data analysis.
• Familiarity with process simulation software is an advantage.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Analyze manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for optimization.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve yield, throughput, and energy efficiency.
• Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and data analytics to monitor process performance.
• Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects using methodologies like Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot process deviations and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to implement changes.
• Prepare detailed reports on process performance, savings achieved, and project outcomes.
• Develop and maintain P&IDs and process documentation.
• Stay updated on new technologies and methodologies for process optimization.
