Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Engineer in Benoni, Gauteng. The role blends on-site laboratory and plant work with remote data analysis and design tasks in a hybrid setup. You will drive process optimization, scale-up, and safety/compliance across operations.

The ideal candidate holds a Chemical Engineering degree with 6+ years in chemical manufacturing, and expertise in Aspen Plus/HYSYS, PFDs/P&IDs, and process control. Join a leading chemical manufacturing team in Gauteng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 6 years in process engineering within chemical manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of reaction engineering, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and separations.
• Experience with Aspen Plus, HYSYS and process design tools is required.
• Familiarity with process control systems and instrumentation is preferred.
• Knowledge of HAZOP and PSM is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize existing chemical processes to improve yield and energy efficiency.
• Design and develop process designs, including PFDs and P&IDs.
• Run process simulations to evaluate changes and predict outcomes.
• Troubleshoot complex process issues and identify root causes.
• Lead pilot plant studies and scale-up activities.
• Ensure safety, environmental, and quality compliance across operations.
• Collaborate with R&D, operations and maintenance on improvements.
• Develop and implement robust control strategies for processes.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation for designs and procedures.
• Support capital projects with process engineering input.
