Job summary

Placements24 in Midrand, Gauteng seeks a Senior Process Chemical Engineer to lead and optimize complex chemical processes on-site with strategic remote planning. You will design, simulate, and implement process improvements, mentor engineers, and drive safety and environmental compliance across operations, R&D, and maintenance in a hybrid work setting.

Ideal candidates hold a chemical engineering degree (BSc/MSc), 7+ years of experience in petrochemical or related industries, and familiarity

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in process engineering.
Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
Experience with process safety management (PSM) principles and practices.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Registered Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) or eligibility for registration is a significant advantage.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes to meet production targets and quality standards.
Conduct feasibility studies and process simulations to evaluate new technologies and process modifications.
Troubleshoot operational issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
Develop and manage process safety information, including hazard analysis and risk assessments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and maintenance, to ensure seamless project execution.
Prepare technical reports, documentation, and process flow diagrams.
Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
