Job summary

Placements24 seeks a skilled Chemical Engineer specializing in Process Control and Automation to join our Stellenbosch-based operations. You will design, implement, and maintain advanced control systems (DCS/PLC/SCADA) to optimize chemical processes, enhance safety, and improve efficiency.

You will work on projects from basic loop tuning to MPC implementations, collaborating with plant engineers and operators.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
Strong knowledge of process control systems and instrumentation.
Experience with DCS/PLC/SCADA and APC concepts.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain process control strategies and systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA).
Develop and tune control loops for stable, efficient operation.
Implement APC solutions such as MPC.
Troubleshoot control system issues and perform root cause analyses.
Collaborate with operations and maintenance for reliable performance.
Develop P&IDs and control philosophy documentation.
Participate in process design reviews and MOC processes.
Stay updated on new control technologies.
Develop training materials and train operators/technicians on control systems.
Manage small projects related to control system upgrades.
