Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer for a hybrid role in Tembisa, Gauteng. You will troubleshoot mechanical issues, implement improvements, and support production and maintenance teams to keep lines operating at peak efficiency.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years in manufacturing, and strong skills in hydraulics, pneumatics, and CAD/CAM. Collaboration and proactive problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Experience with troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proficiency in MS Office and CAD/CAM systems.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and support for mechanical equipment and production machinery.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical failures, breakdowns, and operational inefficiencies promptly.
• Implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to identify areas for process optimization and cost reduction.
• Assist in installation, commissioning, and modification of mechanical systems.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including maintenance logs and repair procedures.
• Conduct root cause analysis for recurring mechanical failures and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Support engineering projects related to equipment upgrades and facility improvements.
• Train junior technicians and operators on proper use and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
