Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on industrial machinery or heavy equipment.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as SOLIDWORKS, Inventor, or AutoCAD.
• Experience with FEA software for mechanical simulations is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, assembly).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment.
• Familiarity with project management principles is a plus.
• Must be eligible to work in Pretoria, South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems for industrial machinery using CAD software.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, models, and BOMs (Bills of Materials) for manufacturing.
• Perform mechanical calculations and simulations (e.g., stress analysis, kinematic analysis) to validate designs.
• Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective to produce.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to improve existing products and develop new ones.
• Specify materials and components, and source suppliers when necessary.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues during prototype development and production.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry safety standards and regulations.
• Assist in the preparation of technical documentation and user manuals.
• Work effectively in a hybrid model, balancing on-site duties with remote tasks as required.
