Job summary

Schlemmer in Durban North seeks an experienced IT Field Technician to join its technical support team. The role covers both remote and onsite support, troubleshooting Windows, networking, and Microsoft 365 environments, and working directly with clients.

You will own client support requests, resolve issues efficiently and communicate professionally with clients and management throughout the support process. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in IT and strong networking and security knowledge.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ IT support/technician experience.
• Experience with IT ticketing systems and client-facing support.
• Strong Windows 10/11 desktop support expertise.
• M365 administration, email, OneDrive and SharePoint experience.
• Networking hardware knowledge including switches, VPN, fibre, wireless.
• Security/firewall awareness and basic IT security practices.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of IT support calls and resolve issues promptly.
• Provide remote and onsite technical support across client environments.
• Troubleshoot Windows desktops, networking, and connectivity issues.
• Configure networking infrastructure including switches, VPN and wireless.
• Support Microsoft 365 environments and related services.
• Assist with firewall and security solution troubleshooting.
• Support PBX and telephony systems where required.
• Provide clear, professional communication to clients and management.
• Share knowledge and guidance with the team to improve productivity.
• Provide after-hours support when required.
