Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer specializing in Power Distribution to join our Kimberley team. The role offers hybrid work, combining remote tasks with essential in-office collaboration to design, plan and specify electrical distribution systems for commercial, industrial, and municipal projects.

You will conduct load calculations, short-circuit analyses, and protection coordination, ensuring compliance with SANS, IEC, and other standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
3–6 years of experience in electrical power distribution design.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit or ETAP.
Knowledge of SANS, IEC and relevant standards.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Design electrical distribution systems, including medium and low voltage networks.
Prepare electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, schematics, and cable schedules.
Specify electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, cables, and protective devices.
Conduct load calculations, fault current analysis, and protection coordination studies.
Ensure designs comply with national and international electrical standards (e.g., SANS, IEC).
Liaise with utility companies and regulatory bodies for approvals and connections.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects.
Perform site visits for data collection, inspection, and construction support.
Prepare technical specifications and tender documentation.
Assist in project management tasks related to electrical distribution aspects.
