Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Electrical Design Engineer in Randburg to lead electrical designs for power distribution networks and substations. You will develop schematics, perform system studies, and ensure compliance with standards across multiple projects.

The role is hybrid, balancing on-site collaboration with remote work and client engagement. A strong background in MV/HV design, protection relays, and Renewable energy integration is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a Power Systems focus.
• Minimum 7 years of electrical infrastructure design experience.
• Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP and PSS/E.
• Knowledge of MV/HV distribution, switchgear and protection relays.
• Experience with renewable energy integration is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design of power distribution networks and substations.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams and specs.
• Perform power system studies: load flow, short circuit, protection coordination.
• Ensure designs meet standards, codes and client requirements.
• Collaborate with civil, mechanical and structural teams.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
• Coordinate with utility providers and regulatory authorities.
• Conduct site assessments and support construction/commissioning.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals and client presentations.
