Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Systems Design Engineer for a diversified industrial conglomerate in Mahikeng, North West. The role blends on-site project work with remote administrative duties in a hybrid model, focusing on designing, developing, and modifying electrical systems across multiple facilities.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in electrical design, proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN, and a strong grasp of power distribution, motor control, and compliance with SANS/IEC

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in electrical systems design, preferably in industrial/mining environments.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN CAD software.
• Solid understanding of power distribution, motor control, and protection systems.
• Knowledge of South African electrical regulations and standards.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work in a hybrid on-site/remote setting and relocate to Mahikeng area.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems (power distribution, MCCs, lighting, earthing).
• Prepare detailed schematics, single-line diagrams, and wiring schedules using CAD tools.
• Perform load calculations and cable sizing.
• Specify components, switchgear, and control systems.
• Ensure compliance with SANS, IEC standards.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, PMs, and site personnel.
• Conduct site surveys and monitor installation progress.
• Assist in commissioning and testing of electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot issues and propose solutions.
• Maintain and update electrical documentation and drawings.
