Placements24 is seeking a Chemical Engineer with expertise in solids handling to join the Mossel Bay team. The role covers design, optimization and troubleshooting of solids handling, conveying, storage and processing systems.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in solids processing, strong knowledge of powder flow and bulk material handling, and a safety-focused approach in a hybrid work setting in Mossel Bay, Western Cape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with a process focus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in solids handling and processing in an industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of powder flow, particle characterization and bulk material handling.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify equipment for solids handling, conveying, storage and processing.
• Optimize solids processing operations for efficiency, throughput and quality.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues related to solids handling.
• Develop safe operating procedures for solids processing equipment.
• Perform calculations on particle mechanics, material flow and sizing.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, operations staff and maintenance teams.
• Conduct DHAs and implement mitigation strategies.
• Manage small to medium solids-handling projects.
• Prepare technical reports and equipment specifications.
