Job summary

Staff Solutions in South Africa is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead labour relations, compliance and HR policy development. The role requires 5–8 years in a similar position and a Level 6 qualification in HR management or labour law.

You will manage disciplinary hearings, absenteeism, recruitment, inductions and incident investigations while supporting management with HR processes and policy implementation in a dynamic workplace.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 6 qualification in HR Management or Labour Law.
  • 5–8 years’ experience in a similar HR role.
  • 5 years’ experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with SQube biometric system.
  • Experience with Payspace, SQube time and attendance and BCX HRIS.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with dispute resolution processes between management, unions and employees.
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws, policies and record-keeping.
  • Coordinate disciplinary hearings, ensuring fairness and consistency.
  • Develop and implement HR policies in line with labour market developments.
  • Develop and deliver training for management and staff on HR topics.
  • Conduct labour market analysis to keep IR practices current.
  • Assist absenteeism policy adherence and related reporting.
  • Ensure monthly HR reporting is timely and efficient.
  • Assist with recruitment and selection as required.
  • Support induction for IR matters.
  • Assist investigations ensuring fair processes.
  • Review employment contracts annually.
  • Provide HR support to employees and line management in line with objectives.

Education and Qualification



  • A Minimum Level 6 qualification in HR Management, Labour Law or related fields

  • Must have at least 5 - 8 years’ working experience in a similar position

  • Have at least 5 years’ working experience on all the MS Office packages i.e. Word, Excel and Power Point.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • SQube biometric system

  • Experience with Payspace, SQube time and attendance, BCX HRIS.


Key Performance Areas:

Dispute Resolution:


  • Assisting with the resolution of disputes between management and labour unions or employees and providing guidance on dispute resolution procedures.


Compliance


  • Ensuring that the organization complies with labour laws, policies, and procedures, and maintain accurate records of all disciplinary hearings, grievances, warnings and other industrial related matters.


Disciplinary hearings:


  • Ensure that all disciplinary hearings are conducted timeously in a procedurally and substantively fair manner. Ensure consistency in all IR matters.


Developing Policies and Procedures:


  • Developing and implementing HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with external changes and new developments in the labour relations market.


Training:


  • Developing and delivering training for management and employees on HR related topics


Labour Market Analysis:


  • Conducting research and analysis on labour market trends, collective bargaining agreements, and other industrial relations issues to ensure that all Industrial relations conducted at the Company are relevant to current legislation.


Absenteeism management:


  • Assist in ensuring the absenteeism policy is adhered to with consistent discipline, employee engagement and reporting.


Reporting:


  • Ensure that all monthly reporting is done timeously and efficiently


Recruitment and Selection:


  • Assist with recruitment and selection as and when required.


Induction process:


  • Assist with the induction process for all IR related subject matter.


Incident investigation:


  • Assist all Management/Supervisor with incident investigation by ensuring that all departments are following a fair and consistent process when conducting their own incident investigation.


Employee contract review:


  • Reviewing of all employment contracts annually.


Assist all employees and line management with HR related processes and queries. Supporting the HR Manager in all areas deemed appropriate and in accordance too departmental objectives.
