Job summary

Huntswood is seeking a dedicated Claims Handler in Durban to manage home insurance claims from first notification of loss through to final settlement. You’ll liaise with customers, analyze details, and ensure strict adherence to FCA guidelines while maintaining high standards of service.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, coordinating with a team that values accuracy, empathy, and proactive communication to resolve claims efficiently.

Qualifications

• Must have strong command of English (written and verbal).
• Strong analytical and numerical abilities are required.
• Experience handling and communicating with customers, including vulnerable customers.

Responsibilities

• Lodge and manage home insurance claims from FNOL to final settlement with focus on timely resolution.
• Update claim details, make adjustments or cancellations as needed and ensure customer interests are prioritized.
• Engage customers via outbound and inbound calls to resolve queries and ensure excellent service.

Job description

Working in our claims department you’ll be a key point of contact for customers with insurance claims queries. As a business which strives to provide fair and timely resolution for our customers, we want to ensure that their concerns are appropriately handled every time.

Your main objective when you engage with our customers will be to understand, address and resolve whilst adhering to treating customers fairly, and upholding principles and FCA guidelines.

You’ll enjoy working in a fast-paced, vibrant, and rewarding role alongside a brilliant and hard-working team.

Job Responsibilities

You will always make sure, that the customer’s interest comes first, whilst providing exceptional customer service. You’ll have experience in both outbound and inbound calls, as well as experience of running cases from start to finish. It is important to engage and communicate effectively, ensuring their complaint is resolved in a timely manner. You will be required to lodge claims, update details and make adjustments or cancellations.

Job Requirements

• National Senior Certificate
• Clear Credit and Criminal record
• 1 year of Home Insurance Experience

Experience managing claims from First Notification of Loss (FNOL) through to final settlement

Experience booking and registering new home insurance claims accurately

• Excellent command and use of English, both written and Verbal
• Strong analytical and numeric skills

Required Skills

• Assisting customers with their Home contents and building insurance claims.
• Handling and navigating vulnerable customers
• Proactively identify issues and problems before they arise.
• Assist with escalated calls and complaints in line with procedures.

Good understanding of home insurance policy Terms & Conditions.

Experience investigating and identifying different Perils/Causes of Loss, including Storm water damage, Fire, theft etc.
