Job summary

Placements24 in Durban seeks a highly qualified Quality Assurance Manager to lead quality initiatives in the FMCG packaging sector. You will develop and maintain robust QMS, drive continuous improvement, and ensure high-quality materials meet stringent standards.

The role requires leading a dedicated QA team, implementing ISO 9001, HACCP, and FSSC 22000, and collaborating with production, R&D and procurement to address issues. Hybrid work is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years progressive experience in Quality Assurance within FMCG/packaging.
• Experience implementing QMS ISO 9001, HACCP and/or FSSC 22000.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, especially packaging materials.
• Proven leadership with ability to manage and motivate a team.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001, HACCP, FSSC 22000.
• Establish and monitor KPIs for all production processes.
• Lead and mentor the Quality Assurance team with training and guidance.
• Oversee product testing, inspection and validation to meet specs.
• Manage audits, supplier quality programs and customer investigations.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce defects and optimize processes.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and health regulations.
• Collaborate with production, R&D and procurement to address issues.
• Maintain quality records, generate reports and present findings to senior management.
• Champion a quality-first culture across the organization.
