Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Quality Control Manager for its Durban, KwaZulu-Natal facility. You will oversee all QC activities from raw materials to finished goods, build a robust QMS, ensure safety compliance, and drive continuous improvement to protect product integrity and consumer trust.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s in Food Science or related field with 7+ years in QA/QC within food manufacturing and experience with HACCP, ISO 22000, and FSSC 22000.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of QA/QC experience in food manufacturing.
• Experience implementing HACCP, ISO 22000, and FSSC 22000 certifications.
• Strong knowledge of food microbiology, chemistry, and processing techniques.
• Proven leadership and ability to manage and develop teams.
• Excellent understanding of regulatory requirements for food products.
• Analytical mindset with data-analysis and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain QMS compliant with HACCP, ISO 22000, and FSSC 22000.
• Oversee QC activities from raw materials to finished goods.
• Mentor and manage the Quality Control team.
• Lead internal audits and facilitate external audits.
• Investigate complaints and CAPA and track effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with national and international food safety regulations.
• Collaborate with Production, R&D and Procurement on quality improvements.
• Monitor quality metrics and report to senior management.
• Champion a culture of quality throughout the organization.
• Stay updated on trends and regulatory changes.
