The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master’s in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) with 5+ years of grid-connected design experience, proficiency in ETAP/PSS/E/DigSilent, and strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical designs for grid-connected renewables and power infra.

• Prepare technical specs for switchgear, transformers, and cabling.
• Ensure compliance with grid codes and standards (NRS 097).

• Create single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Provide technical support during construction and commissioning.

Our client, a dynamic engineering consultancy specializing in power infrastructure, is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a focus on grid integration to join their growing team in Rustenburg, North West. This role is crucial for developing robust and compliant electrical designs for renewable energy projects and grid-tied systems. You will be responsible for the entire design lifecycle, from concept development and schematic design to detailed engineering and technical support during construction. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Proven experience in designing for renewable energy projects (solar PV, wind farms) is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software such as ETAP, PSS/E, DigSilent PowerFactory, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of protection relays, schemes, and power system stability.
• Familiarity with South African grid connection requirements and standards.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD software for electrical drawings.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks.
• Based in or willing to commute to Rustenburg, North West.
