Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer for its Upington, Northern Cape facility. This hands-on role lets you work on the design, development, and testing of automotive components within a supportive product development team.

You will collaborate with experienced engineers on the full lifecycle from concept to production, applying CAD skills and analytical capabilities to deliver robust solutions and gain valuable industry exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Solid understanding of mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials science.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD) desirable.
• Familiarity with engineering simulation tools (ANSYS, ABAQUS) a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Eligible to work full-time in Upington.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of mechanical components and systems using CAD.
• Create 3D models, 2D drawings, and engineering specifications.
• Support testing and validation of prototypes and pre-production components.
• Conduct stress, thermal, and vibration analyses.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure design feasibility.
• Troubleshoot design issues and implement solutions.
• Research new materials, technologies, and processes.
• Document design changes, test results, and technical reports.
• Participate in design reviews and provide feedback.
• Adhere to project timelines and deliverables.
