Placements24 is seeking a Senior Automotive Mechanical Engineer to join its Pretoria product development team. You will lead design, development, and testing of complex automotive systems and components from concept to production.

The role demands expert CAD/CAE skills, strong materials/process knowledge, and proven project leadership to drive innovative vehicle solutions in the Gauteng region. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and mentorship of junior engineers are key parts of the job.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive automotive mechanical design and development experience.
• Expert proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and simulation software.
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and vehicle dynamics.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
• Proven leadership capabilities and experience managing technical projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of automotive mechanical systems (powertrain, chassis, suspension).
• Use CATIA/SolidWorks for detailed design and CAE tools for simulations (FEA/CFD).
• Test and validate components, analyze results, and implement design changes.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams for integration.
• Prepare technical docs and presentations for reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide projects through lifecycle.
