Job summary

DP World in Gauteng seeks an experienced Sea Import Controller to coordinate international cargo from origin to final delivery. You will liaise with overseas agents, freight forwarders and customs to ensure accurate documentation and on-time release.

Key duties include tracking shipments, verifying bills of lading and certificates, managing costs, and providing proactive updates to clients while maintaining meticulous shipment records in the freight system.

Qualifications

• Matric is required.
• 3–5 years experience in import & export operations.
• Knowledge of Incoterms and shipping documentation.
• Experience with freight forwarders and customs clearance.
• Proficiency in MS Office and freight systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate import LCL shipments with overseas agents and consolidators, from booking to arrival.
• Liaise with third-party service providers and suppliers to ensure on-time movement.
• Verify shipping documents (bills of lading, invoices, packing lists, origin certificates) for accuracy.
• Coordinate customs clearance and cargo release with the clearing team.
• Monitor shipment progress and provide regular updates to clients.
• Maintain accurate shipment records and resolve documentation issues.
• Identify and resolve delays, charges, and operational challenges.
