Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a detail-oriented Mortgage Underwriter to join our remote team. You will assess risk on mortgage loan applications, review applicant financials, property valuations, and credit histories to support sound lending decisions.

In this role, you will ensure all loans comply with company policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements while communicating decisions to loan officers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of mortgage underwriting experience.
• Strong knowledge of mortgage lending principles and regulations (e.g., FICA, NCA).
• Proficiency with loan origination and underwriting software.
• Ability to manage high volume of remote loan applications.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate mortgage loan applications to determine creditworthiness and risk.
• Analyze borrower's financial history, including income, assets, and liabilities.
• Review property appraisals and title reports to ensure collateral soundness.
• Ensure loans comply with policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate underwriting decisions and conditions to loan officers and clients.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of mortgage lending regulations and best practices.
