Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join its remote lending team. You will evaluate loan applications, analyze credit, income, and asset data, and ensure compliance with NACA, FHA, VA, and conventional guidelines.

The role requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage a high volume of files remotely. The ideal candidate understands mortgage lending principles, product variations, and applicable regulations, and communicates effectively with loan officers

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Mortgage Underwriter with strong underwriting principles.
Knowledge of mortgage products and secondary market guidelines.
Familiarity with LOS and underwriting platforms.
Analytical skills with high accuracy.
Knowledge of federal and state lending regulations.
Ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

Review and analyze loan applications, including credit reports, income verification, and asset documentation.
Evaluate property appraisals and title reports to ensure collateral meets lender requirements.
Assess borrower risk and decide on approval/denial/counter-offer.
Ensure underwriting activities comply with loan guidelines, including NACA, FHA, VA, and conventional.
Communicate with loan officers, processors, and borrowers to gather docs.
Maintain accurate loan files with decisions and actions.
