Placements24 is seeking a seasoned, independent Remote Senior Underwriter to join a growing team. This fully remote role lets you apply extensive underwriting expertise to assess complex risks from anywhere in the United States, with potential meetups near Paarl for occasional team gatherings.

You will evaluate applications, determine terms and pricing, and contribute to profitable growth while upholding underwriting standards. Autonomy and sound judgment are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of underwriting experience, with focus on commercial lines.
• Ability to underwrite complex risks independently and accurately.
• Strong knowledge of insurance markets, products, and regulation.
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective remote communication and negotiation abilities.
• Proficiency with underwriting systems and standard office software.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex insurance risks per guidelines and authority.
• Build relationships with brokers and agents to source quality business.
• Analyze financial statements, loss history, and data to assess risk.
• Set policy terms, conditions, and pricing for individual risks.
• Provide mentorship to junior underwriters and support staff remotely.
