Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly motivated Remote Civil Engineer specialized in Geotechnical Engineering. This fully remote role focuses on soil mechanics, foundation design, slope stability, and earthworks for projects across South Africa.

You will work with project teams using advanced geotechnical software, deliver detailed reports, and support clients remotely. Requires 5+ years of geotechnical experience and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must have a Civil Engineering degree with geotechnical specialization.
• Minimum 5 years of geotechnical experience, preferably in infrastructure and buildings.
• Proficient with geotechnical analysis software (PLAXIS, GeoStudio, Rocscience).
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics and foundation engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical investigations including soil/rock properties, groundwater, and seismic hazards.
• Design shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, and earthworks for diverse projects.
• Conduct slope stability analyses and provide mitigation recommendations.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports with interpretations, parameters, and construction recommendations.
• Develop and review site investigation plans and field testing programs.
• Utilize geotechnical software for modeling and analysis (PLAXIS, GeoStudio, Rocscience).
• Collaborate with project managers and clients to define requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
• Provide technical support and review construction methods related to earthworks and foundations.
