You will work with project teams using advanced geotechnical software, deliver detailed reports, and support clients remotely. Requires 5+ years of geotechnical experience and strong communication skills.

Responsabilidades

• Perform geotechnical investigations including soil/rock properties, groundwater, and seismic hazards.
• Design shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, and earthworks for diverse projects.
• Conduct slope stability analyses and provide mitigation recommendations.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports with interpretations, parameters, and construction recommendations.
• Develop and review site investigation plans and field testing programs.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote Civil Engineer specializing in Geotechnical Engineering. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be instrumental in providing expert geotechnical analysis and design for a diverse range of projects, from large-scale infrastructure developments to commercial and residential buildings. This role requires a deep understanding of soil mechanics, foundation design, slope stability, and earthworks. As a remote team member, you will leverage advanced communication and collaboration tools to connect with project teams and stakeholders across various locations. Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive geotechnical investigations, including analysis of soil and rock properties, groundwater conditions, and seismic hazards.
• Design foundations (shallow and deep), retaining structures, and earthworks for diverse projects.
• Conduct slope stability analyses and provide mitigation recommendations.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, including interpretations, design parameters, and construction recommendations.
• Develop and review site investigation plans and field testing programs.
• Utilize advanced geotechnical software for modeling and analysis (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, FLAC).
• Collaborate with project managers, civil engineers, and clients to define project requirements and deliver tailored geotechnical solutions.
• Provide technical support and review of construction methods related to earthworks and foundations.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of geotechnical engineering best practices, relevant codes, and standards.
• Effectively communicate findings and recommendations through clear and concise written reports and virtual presentations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably with exposure to infrastructure and building projects.
• Proven ability to conduct detailed site investigations and interpret subsurface data.
• Proficiency in industry-standard geotechnical analysis software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio suite, Rocscience software).
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering principles, and geological processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for remote collaboration.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage workload effectively in a remote setting.
• Experience with South African geological conditions and relevant standards (SANS) is advantageous.
• Must have a reliable internet connection and a suitable home office setup.
