Placements24 seeks a highly analytical Subsurface Geoscientist focused on New Ventures in Midrand, Gauteng. The role identifies frontier basins, evaluates datasets, and guides strategic investments in exploration frontiers with strong modeling and visualization skills.

The candidate will integrate multidisciplinary data, develop regional models, and collaborate with teams to present robust technical findings for decision makers.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in geoscience disciplines.
• 7+ years in exploration geology/geophysics with frontier focus.
• Proven track record identifying and maturing prospects.
• Expertise in seismic interpretation and petroleum systems modeling.
• Strong data integration and decision-support skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate new frontier exploration opportunities.
• Integrate seismic, well logs, gravity, magnetic and geochemical data.
• Develop regional geological models and play fairways.
• Assess petroleum systems: source, reservoir, seal, trap, preservation.
• Perform risk and uncertainty analyses for ventures.
• Present findings to teams and partners; support campaigns.
