The role requires senior leadership, robust communication, and a track record of delivering strategic subsurface insights. Hybrid office/field coordination is expected in this South African operation.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in subsurface geoscience within the Oil & Gas industry, with demonstrated leadership experience.
• Expertise in geological modeling, seismic interpretation, petrophysics, and basin analysis.
• Proven ability to integrate multidisciplinary subsurface data.
• Strong understanding of exploration and development workflows.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative environment.
• Experience working in a hybrid setup, coordinating between office-based teams and field operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of geologists, geophysicists, and petrophysicists.
• Oversee the integrated interpretation of geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data.
• Develop and refine subsurface models for exploration and field development.
• Evaluate and characterize hydrocarbon resources and reserves.
• Guide the planning and execution of geological and geophysical surveys.
• Present subsurface interpretations and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
• Ensure the application of best practices and advanced technologies in subsurface characterization.
• Contribute to the company's exploration portfolio management and strategic planning.
• Collaborate closely with reservoir engineering and drilling teams.
