Placements24 is seeking a visionary Subsurface Manager to lead a remote team of geologists, geophysicists, and reservoir engineers in driving exploration and production excellence across South Africa.

You will oversee interpretation, modeling, and forecasting, ensuring economic viability while aligning with corporate strategy. A strong track record in subsurface leadership and advanced analytics is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering, or a related subsurface discipline.
• Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in subsurface exploration and production, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record in successful exploration and field development projects within the Oil & Gas industry.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage the subsurface team (geologists, geophysicists, reservoir engineers).
• Oversee interpretation of geological and geophysical data for exploration and field development.
• Manage reservoir characterization, performance analysis, and production forecasting.
• Develop and implement integrated subsurface strategies for exploration and production.
• Ensure the economic viability and technical soundness of subsurface projects.
• Collaborate with other departments to align subsurface objectives with company strategy.
• Manage budgets and resources for the subsurface department.
• Stay abreast of technological advancements and best practices in subsurface disciplines.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards.
• Communicate subsurface insights and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
