Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Subsurface Geologist in Bloemfontein to evaluate basins, interpret geological data, and support geological models for exploration strategies. You will work closely with geophysicists and reservoir engineers to identify assets and integrate subsurface interpretations.

The role offers a hybrid work arrangement in the Free State province. The candidate should bring a master's in Geology and 5+ years in subsurface evaluation, with strong skills in Sedimentology,

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology or related field.
• 5+ years of subsurface geology experience in oil and gas.
• Proficiency with Petrel and Kingdom for data interpretation and modeling.
• Solid understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy and structural geology relevant to hydrocarbon systems.

Responsibilities

• Interpret geological data (well logs, core samples, seismic) to define subsurface models.
• Evaluate exploration and development opportunities in different geological settings.
• Contribute to prospect generation, risk assessment and volumetrics.
• Collaborate with geophysics and reservoir engineering to integrate subsurface data.
• Prepare geological reports, maps and presentations for reviews and decisions.
