Placements24 is recruiting a talented Sous Chef for a Michelin-inspired fine dining establishment in Kimberley, South Africa. You will support the Head Chef, supervise kitchen staff, and contribute to daily operations, quality, and menu development in a high-pressure, refined environment.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in fine dining, formal culinary education, strong leadership, and solid knowledge of food safety (HACCP).

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as Sous Chef or senior role in fine dining.
• Formal culinary education from a recognized institution.
• Advanced knowledge of classical and contemporary cooking techniques.
• Leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent food safety, hygiene and HACCP understanding.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure during peak service hours.
• Attention to detail and passion for high-quality ingredients.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in overseeing all kitchen operations and plating.
• Supervise and mentor junior chefs and kitchen staff.
• Maintain rigorous standards of food quality, consistency and presentation.
• Collaborate on menu design, recipe testing and seasonal specials.
• Manage inventory, stock control and ingredient orders to minimize waste.
• Ensure compliance with health and sanitation regulations.
• Lead service in the Head Chef's absence and foster a positive team environment.
• Monitor kitchen performance and identify improvement areas.
• Uphold culinary excellence and innovation.
