Job description

Responsibilities

• Running the monthly payroll
• Submitting monthly EMP and VAT returns to SARS
• Bi‑annual filing of EMP returns to SARS
• Submitting Workmen's compensation to DOL annually
• Monitoring and reporting on monthly, annual and sick leave
• Managing company insurance for our assets
• Making ad‑hoc travel arrangements for staff (as we move toward automation)
• Filing annual return with CIPC and making any other statutory changes
• Liaising with Momentum around pension‑related queries
• Loading weekly payments for approval on FNB
• Checking / approving staff expenses monthly on Databasics
• Checking monthly rental invoice and preparing monthly ESG report
• Assisting with admin tasks such as buying gifts for staff, ordering lunch each week, booking conferences and helping to arrange social events
• Providing cover for Belinda when she is on leave (bookkeeping and fixed asset maintenance)
• Ad‑hoc HR assistance with paperwork (if time allows)

Education / Qualifications

• Be self‑motivated and able to work with limited supervision
• Be a team player – we are a small finance team of 3 people who work closely together
• Meticulous in detail
• Very organised and able to manage a variety of different deadlines (some annual, some monthly, some weekly, some ad‑hoc) without dropping any balls
• Proficient in Excel – using formulae to do the work, not just a calculator
• Adaptable and a quick learner
