Placements24 is seeking a Field Service Technician to join our client’s team in Midrand, Gauteng. You will install, troubleshoot, service and repair advanced electro-mechanical systems at client sites, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.

The role requires 3–5 years of field service experience, strong knowledge of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and the ability to read schematics. A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel are essential.

• Qualifications as listed: N6 or National Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–5 years of field service or maintenance/installation experience.
• Strong grasp of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Perform on-site installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of advanced electro-mechanical systems and industrial equipment.
• Conduct regular diagnostic tests and preventative maintenance procedures to ensure optimal system performance and minimize downtime.
• Respond promptly to service calls and emergency breakdowns, providing efficient and effective solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to provide feedback on product performance and suggest improvements.
• Maintain detailed service reports, documenting all work performed, parts used, and recommendations.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company standards.
• Provide technical guidance and support to clients on equipment operation and maintenance.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and ensure timely reordering.
• Travel to client sites within the Midrand, Gauteng region and occasionally further afield as required.

Requirements

• A relevant technical qualification (e.g., N6, National Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent).
• Proven experience (minimum 3-5 years) as a Field Service Technician or in a similar maintenance/installation role.
• Strong understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
• Familiarity with PLC programming and industrial networking is a significant advantage.
