Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa seeks a diligent Field Service Engineer to support power generation equipment in and around Soweto. You will travel to client sites to install, commission, maintain, troubleshoot and repair generators and turbines, acting as the technical point of contact to ensure reliable operation.

The role requires a National Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and at least four years' field service experience.

Qualifications

• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills essential for on-site repairs and diagnostics.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in generators and turbines.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site installation, commissioning, and routine maintenance of power generation equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues with generators, turbines, and control systems.
• Conduct preventative maintenance checks and service activities per manufacturer guidelines.
• Provide technical support and training to customer personnel on operation and maintenance.
• Generate detailed service reports including parts used and customer feedback.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during field operations.
