Job summary

Project A Recruitment is seeking an experienced Export Controller for a Durban-based role with a close-knit freight forwarding client. You will be hands-on in managing the full export process from quotation to invoicing and will coordinate sea and air shipments while maintaining strong client relations.

Qualifications

• Experience in exports within the freight forwarding industry.
• Strong knowledge of export documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to own and manage the full file process from estimate through invoicing.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage export files from the initial estimate/quotation through to final invoicing
• Coordinate export shipments across sea and air freight
• Liaise with clients, shipping lines, transporters, agents and other service providers
• Prepare and process export documentation
• Monitor shipment progress and provide clients with regular updates
• Ensure export documentation complies with relevant regulations and requirements
• Track shipments and proactively resolve delays or operational issues
• Maintain accurate shipment records, costing and invoicing, ensuring deadlines are met
• Provide excellent customer service throughout the export process

Are you an experienced Export Controller looking to join a smaller, close-knit freight forwarding company where you can play an important role in the day-to-day operations?

Project A Recruitment is looking for a capable and detail-oriented Export Controller with solid freight forwarding experience to join our client’s team in Morningside, Durban.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage export files from the initial estimate/quotation through to final invoicing
• Coordinate export shipments across sea and air freight
• Liaise with clients, shipping lines, transporters, agents and other service providers
• Prepare and process export documentation
• Monitor shipment progress and provide clients with regular updates
• Ensure export documentation complies with relevant regulations and requirements
• Track shipments and proactively resolve delays or operational issues
• Maintain accurate shipment records, costing and invoicing, ensuring deadlines are met
• Provide excellent customer service throughout the export process

Requirements

• Previous experience in exports within the freight forwarding industry
• Proficiency in sea and air freight
• Ability to take ownership and manage the full file process from estimate through to invoicing
• Good knowledge of export procedures and documentation
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines
• Ability to work independently in a smaller team environment
• A proactive, solutions-driven approach

• Salary of R20,000 – R30,000 per month, depending on experience
