Job summary

Röhlig & Co in Johannesburg’s Linbro Park, Seafreight – Roadfreight division, seeks a Junior Export Controller to manage roadfreight exports, coordinate freight, and ensure compliance.

You will handle export documentation, Incoterms, liaise with transport partners, and support customs procedures while maintaining accuracy and client focus.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years experience in the Clearing and Forwarding Industry.
• Proficient with export documentation and trade terms including Incoterms.
• Familiar with customs clearance procedures and export controls.
• Strong client orientation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan the freight movement.
• Coordinate freight movement.
• Process Customs and other statutory documents required for Customs clearance.
• Administration of file.
• Process claims.
• Effect creditors disbursements and process debtors invoices.
• Comply with the requirements of the Customs Accreditation System
• Comply with the requirements of the quality management system

If managing roadfreight exports, coordinating freight, and ensuring compliance is your strength, you could be our next Junior Export Controller

This role is based at our JHB Seafreight - Roadfreight division in Linbro Park.

Education

• Matric
• 2-year freight forwarding related qualification at NQF level 4 or NQF level 5 or equivalent

Knowledge and experience

• 2-3 years experience in the Clearing and Forwarding Industry

• To co-ordinate the freight movement of export cargo through the international transport chain in terms of the client’s import requirements
• INCO Terms
• Transport modal selection. Carrier conditions of carriage
• Basic international trade principles
• Applicable sections of Export control Act.
• Commercial, transport, carrier and statutory department documents.
• Customs and other statutory body cargo clearance procedure
• Export freight document flow procedure
• Geography
• Computer literacy (MS Office). On Track programme
• Good communication skills (Written & Verbal). Client orientation
• Action and result orientation
• Time Management. Attention to detail
• Financial discipline / acumen
• Basic knowledge of insurance
• Problem solving/solutions driven
• Basic knowledge of foreign currency
