Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Mine Manager to oversee operations at a major site near Klerksdorp, North West. The role focuses on safety, productivity, and profitability, directing planning, resource management and compliance with stringent South African regulations.

You will lead a large team, monitor performance against metrics, liaise with regulators and community representatives, and ensure optimal use of equipment while driving cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering or related field; a postgraduate qualification is advantageous.
• Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in mining operations, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale mining operations safely and profitably.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• In-depth knowledge of mining methods, equipment, and relevant legislation in South Africa.
• Valid Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement mine operating plans to achieve production targets efficiently and safely.
• Manage all personnel, including supervisors, operators, and support staff, fostering a motivated and skilled workforce.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Oversee the effective utilization of mining equipment and resources to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
• Monitor mine performance against key metrics and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Liaise with stakeholders, including senior management, regulatory bodies, and community representatives.
