Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or related quantitative field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in financial analysis, market analysis, or energy trading support.
• Strong understanding of energy markets (electricity, gas) and commodity trading principles.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (VBA) and experience with R, Python or financial modeling tools.
• Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze real-time energy market data, including prices, supply, and demand fluctuations.
• Develop and maintain financial models to forecast market trends and identify trading opportunities.
• Analyze historical trading data to identify patterns, risks, and opportunities for optimization.
• Support the energy trading team with data analysis, reporting, and ad-hoc research.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly market reports for senior management.
• Assist in the development and refinement of trading strategies and algorithms.
• Collaborate with risk management teams to assess and monitor market exposure.
• Identify and evaluate potential new energy markets and trading instruments.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant market regulations and trading policies.
• Communicate analytical findings clearly and concisely to traders and other stakeholders in Rustenburg.
• Perform back-testing of trading strategies and models.
• Contribute to the development of market intelligence and competitive analysis.
