About the Role

Our client, a prominent name in the Energy market, is seeking a sharp and analytical Energy Trading Analyst to join their operations in Rustenburg . You will be responsible for analyzing market trends, developing trading strategies, and executing trades in various energy commodities. This position requires a strong quantitative background, meticulous attention to detail, and a keen understanding of energy markets and financial instruments. You will work closely with the trading desk and risk management teams to optimize portfolio performance and manage exposure. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze energy market data, including price movements, supply/demand fundamentals, and geopolitical events.
• Develop and refine quantitative trading models and algorithms.
• Execute energy trades across various markets (e.g., power, natural gas, oil, carbon credits) in line with established strategies.
• Conduct pre-trade analysis and post-trade performance evaluation.
• Identify and assess trading opportunities and risks.
• Collaborate with the risk management team to monitor and report on market exposure and P&L.
• Prepare market reports, insights, and recommendations for senior management and the trading desk.
• Contribute to the development of new trading strategies and products.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant trading regulations and internal policies.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in energy trading, market analysis, or a related financial role.
• Strong understanding of energy commodity markets, trading mechanisms, and financial derivatives.
• Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
• Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to interpret complex data.
• Familiarity with risk management principles and P&L reporting.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure trading environment.
• Must be able to commute to our Rustenburg office for hybrid working arrangements.
