Job summary

Placements24 seeks an Energy Trading Analyst in Rustenburg for a hybrid role combining in-office collaboration with remote work. You will analyze energy markets, build trading models, and execute trades across power, gas, oil, and carbon markets, while managing risk and reporting performance.

The ideal candidate has a quantitative background, 3+ years of energy trading experience, and strong programming skills in Python/R/SQL.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
3+ years of energy trading, market analysis, or related financial experience.
Strong understanding of energy commodity markets, trading mechanisms and derivatives.
Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools and programming (Python/R/SQL).

Responsibilities

Monitor and analyze energy market data, including price movements and fundamentals.
Develop and refine quantitative trading models and algorithms.
Execute energy trades across markets (power, gas, oil, carbon) per strategy.
Conduct pre-trade analysis and post-trade performance evaluation.
Identify and assess trading opportunities and risks.
Collaborate with risk management to monitor market exposure and P&L.
Prepare market reports and recommendations for senior management.
Contribute to development of new trading strategies and products.
Ensure compliance with trading regulations and internal policies.
