Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Design Technician to support our client in Paarl, Western Cape. You will translate design concepts into buildable electrical systems, creating detailed drawings, schematics, and BOQs while ensuring compliance with SANS and building codes.

The role requires a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering and at least 3 years of experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD software. A hybrid work model is available, balancing office and remote work.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a prominent firm in the construction and infrastructure sector, is seeking a meticulous Electrical Design Technician to support their engineering team in Paarl, Western Cape . This role is integral to the production of detailed electrical designs, schematics, and documentation for a variety of building and infrastructure projects. You will work closely with Electrical Engineers to translate design concepts into practical, buildable electrical systems, ensuring compliance with codes and standards. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proficient with CAD software, and possesses a strong understanding of electrical principles in a building services context. Key Responsibilities

Assist in the design and development of electrical systems for commercial, industrial, and residential projects. Produce detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams using CAD software. Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and material specifications. Conduct site visits to gather information and verify existing electrical installations. Ensure all designs comply with relevant national electrical standards (SANS) and building codes. Support the Electrical Engineers in project planning, coordination, and problem-solving. Perform calculations for load estimations, cable sizing, and lighting requirements. Maintain accurate project documentation and drawing revisions. Assist with the preparation of tender documentation and project submittals. Collaborate effectively with other design disciplines (mechanical, structural).

Requirements

National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification. Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Electrical Design Technician or Drafter. Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and/or other relevant CAD software. Solid understanding of electrical principles, power distribution, lighting design, and low-voltage systems. Familiarity with South African electrical regulations and standards. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in producing technical drawings. Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines. Experience in the building services or construction industry is advantageous.
