Job summary

V&A Waterfront is seeking an Electrical Assistant in Cape Town CBD to handle call outs and electrical maintenance. You will assist with installations, fault finding, and ensuring safety standards are followed under supervision.

You will report to a Team Leader and occasionally to the Electrical Manager, supporting ad hoc projects and daily checks on electrical infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to perform electrical maintenance and respond to faults.
• Knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations.
• Ability to operate as part of a team and report findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Attend to call outs independently and as part of a team.
• Perform electrical maintenance and installations; ensure daily checks are completed.
• Fault finding at callouts and identify practical solutions.
• Adhere to SABS 0142 safety standards and recognise unsafe installations.
• Contribute to ad hoc projects as required.

Job description

The Electrical Assistant tends to incidents reported via the Control and Helpdesk Administrator, is responsible for electrical maintenance and installations, fault finding and has to ensure that safety standards are adhered to and maintained. They will work under the supervision of a Team Leader or Supervisor, but will also report to the Electrical Manager from time to time and assist with ad hoc projects.

1. Attend to call outs

• Attend to incidents reported via control & helpdesk administrator independently and as part of a team

2. Electrical Maintenance / installations

• Ensures that daily checks are done.
• Ensures that faults are repaired or outsourced.
• Electrical maintenance on buildings and related electrical infrastructure
• Fault finding at callouts and identify solutions
• Submit checklist and reports to supervisor on a weekly basis
• Maintenance of tool register in sub - store

3. Fault Finding

• Comply with checklist procedures and report all unsafe conditions
• Identify faults and find solutions

4. Safety Standards

• Recognise unsafe electrical installations.
• Reading of tenant meters.
• Work according to SABS 0142 safety standards.

5. Ad hoc projects

• Will be required to work on ad hoc projects from time to time.
