Job summary

Bidvest Facilities Management is seeking a hands-on handyman technician to perform planned, preventive and emergency maintenance on diverse equipment. The role requires carrying out tasks per work orders, conducting inspections, minor repairs, and assisting artisans on major jobs.

The ideal candidate has a Grade 12 with technical bias or N4 technical, a valid SA driver’s license, and practical exposure to electricity, carpentry, plumbing, and painting.

Qualifications

• Grade 12, technical bias preferred.
• N4 Technical qualification in electrical or mechanical fields.
• Valid SA Driver's Licence.
• Experience with basic electrical and maintenance tasks.
• Familiarity with OHS Act and ISO 9001 quality systems.
• First Aid training.

Responsibilities

• Carry out timeous and quality planned, preventive and emergency maintenance on equipment as per job cards.
• Perform inspections of facility and repairs on building infrastructure.
• Assist artisans with major repairs and services as needed.
• Provide feedback on restoration status to line manager and technical staff.
• Adhere to client and company requirements for tasks and safety.

ROLE PURPOSE

To carry out timeous and quality planned, preventive and emergency maintenance on all specified equipment.

MAIN OUTPUTS

• Perform tasks in accordance to job cards (work orders) issued, as per Client & Company requirements.
• Conduct investigations, evaluation & restorations on identified equipment malfunction.
• Carry out minor repairs & service on all electrical equipment & appliances as per SLA.
• Perform inspection of facility & repairs on all building infrastructure.
• Carry out inspections & report back on all.
• Assist the Artisan with major repairs and services.
• Provide constant feedback to the Line Manager, Technical staff & CCC on restoration status of operations.
• Undertake other related duties and assignments as assigned from time to time

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

The Applicant must meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 (Technical Matric advantageous)
• N4 Technical (Electrical/Mechanical)
• Valid SA Drivers License
• Practical exposure in basic tasks of electricity building infrastructure, including carpentry, plumbing, painting
• Minimum2yrs relevant experience in Handyman maintenance tasks
• Basic training on hand tools, electrical and mechanical equipment
• Knowledge of OHS Act & ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
• First Aid
• Relevant on-site training (SOP training, HIRA, Fatigue management)
