Job summary

Bidvest Facilities Management seeks a Technical Assistant to support planned, preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance on on-site infrastructure, including air-conditioning and electrical plant. You will assist Field Technicians and Managers, inspect sites, and ensure safety, reporting, and compliance with client standards.

Qualifications

• National N4-Electrical Engineering Trade Theory- advantageous
• Grade 12 (Technical Matric advantageous)
• Valid Code 10 EB Driver’s License (4*4 and advanced driving will be an advantage)
• Practical exposure in basic tasks of electricity building infrastructure, including carpentry, plumbing, Painting.
• 1-2 Years in a Technical Assistant (PPM, CPM, Vandalism, etc.) position.
• Basic training on hand tools, electrical and mechanical equipment
• Knowledge of OHS Act & ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
• Experience in the GSM and Core Network Telecommunications Environment
• Knowledge of various power components and systems is an advantage
• Trouble-shooting skills with ability to think outside of the box.
• Working electrical knowledge, including the use of tools and test equipment
• Medically fit and in good health
• Flexibility to work overtime
• Communication and Leadership Skills

Responsibilities

• To ensure that all access procedures as well as work status updates are done in accordance with the agreed procedures and processes
• Technical Assistant must ensure he/she complies with and adhere to the Health and Safety requirements of Bidvest FM and the client’s requirement as applicable on the site.
• Technical Assistant must ensure Tools, Vehicles, Test Equipment, Laptops, Cellphones are looked after and checked for condition and ensure all of these are safe for use and maintained on a register (where applicable).
• The Technical Assistant will always answer his phone when on duty and return calls as soon as possible when not on duty.
• Carry out inspections & report back on all.
• Completing tasks onsite within allocated timeframes.
• Ensure that your e-mail address and company phone (where applicable) is always operational.
• Report direct and follow instructions from Field Technician.
• Adhering to quality requirements as stipulated by scope of work.

Providing technical support to Field Technicians, Technical Managers & Junior Managers.
