About the Role

Our client, a prestigious golf estate and leisure facility in Cape Town, Western Cape , is seeking an accomplished and visionary Director of Golf Operations . This senior leadership position is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of all golf-related activities, ensuring an exceptional experience for members and visitors alike. The role demands a blend of operational expertise, strategic planning, financial acumen, and a passion for golf. You will be responsible for overseeing course maintenance, club operations, member services, and golf development programs, ensuring profitability and upholding the highest standards of service and facility excellence. This is a critical role within the organization, offering the chance to shape the future of a premier golfing destination in one of South Africa's most beautiful cities.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the golf course, including course conditioning, agronomy, and player services. Develop and implement strategic business plans to maximize revenue and profitability for all golf operations, including green fees, tournaments, club rentals, and F&B. Manage the golf operations budget, including forecasting, expense control, and capital expenditure planning. Lead and motivate the golf operations team, including golf professionals, course marshals, starters, and administrative staff. Develop and manage member programs, events, and tournaments to enhance member satisfaction and engagement. Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations. Collaborate with the executive team and other department heads to ensure seamless integration of golf operations with overall resort strategy. Uphold the brand reputation and standards of excellence associated with the estate. Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in golf course management and operations. Manage relationships with golf equipment suppliers and service providers.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Golf Course Management, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in golf operations management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Extensive knowledge of golf course agronomy, club operations, and tournament management. Proven experience in financial management, budgeting, and P&L responsibility. Strong leadership, team management, and customer service skills. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities. Experience with golf course management software and POS systems. A passion for golf and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences. Relevant certifications (e.g., PGA qualification) are highly advantageous. Must be based in or willing to relocate to Cape Town, Western Cape .
