The role requires at least 10 years in golf course management, with 5 years in leadership, strong turfgrass knowledge, budgeting savvy, and a passion for luxury service in a Cape Town setting.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Agronomy, Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in golf course management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven expertise in turfgrass science, irrigation systems, and pest/disease management.
• Strong understanding of golf course construction and renovation principles.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all golf course maintenance activities, including irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and course conditioning, to championship standards.
• Oversee the agronomy program, ensuring optimal turf health and playing conditions throughout the year.
• Manage the golf operations team, including starters, marshals, and caddie masters, fostering a culture of service excellence.
• Develop and manage the annual operating budget for golf course maintenance and golf operations, controlling costs and maximizing profitability.
• Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures on the golf course and related facilities.
• Liaise with the golf professional, club management, and members to address concerns and enhance the overall golf experience.
• Plan and execute special projects related to course improvement and facility upgrades in Cape Town.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry best practices for golf course management.
• Train and mentor staff, promoting continuous learning and professional development within the Cape Town team.
