Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer in Paarl, Western Cape, offering a hybrid work model that blends in-office collaboration with remote flexibility. The role focuses on building automated CI/CD pipelines, scaling cloud infrastructure, and implementing containerization with Docker and Kubernetes to improve reliability and deployment efficiency.

You will script automation tasks, work with Terraform/Ansible, and ensure security best practices are applied across systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Proficiency in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
• Understanding of networking concepts and security best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated software delivery.
• Manage and scale cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Implement and manage containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and improve reliability and scalability.
• Develop and maintain robust scripting for automation tasks.
• Collaborate with development and QA teams to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and deployment issues.
• Implement and manage security best practices across the infrastructure.
• Ensure system availability, performance, and security through proactive measures.
• Document infrastructure configurations and operational procedures.
• Stay current with emerging DevOps tools and technologies.
