Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our engineering team in a hybrid role based in Soweto, Gauteng. You will design and scale cloud infrastructure, automate deployment pipelines, and drive security practices across platforms.

You will collaborate closely with development and operations to improve the software delivery lifecycle, leveraging Terraform/Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, and popular CI/CD tools in a fast-growing SaaS environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional DevOps experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
• Hands-on with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef or Puppet.
• Scripting in Bash, Python or PowerShell.
• Strong networking, security and sysadmin fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and manage robust CI/CD pipelines.
• Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• IaC implementation and maintenance with Terraform/Ansible.
• Deploy, manage and scale Docker and Kubernetes environments.
• Monitor performance, availability and security; implement proactive measures.
• Automate operational tasks to improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with development teams for scalable, reliable apps.
• Enforce security best practices across infra and deployment.
• Troubleshoot complex infra and deployment issues.
• Stay current with DevOps tools and methods.
