Placements24 is seeking a forward-thinking Data Privacy Counsel to lead privacy initiatives in a fully remote capacity. You will ensure adherence to POPIA, GDPR, and global privacy requirements while shaping the company’s privacy program from anywhere.

As the principal privacy advisor, you will develop policies, conduct DPIAs, oversee cross-border data transfers, vendor agreements, and data breach responses, while training staff to uphold best practices.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney with 5+ years in data privacy.
• Deep knowledge of POPIA, GDPR and international privacy laws.
• Experience creating and implementing privacy policies and compliance programs.
• Strong understanding of information security principles.
• Ability to work autonomously in a remote role.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the company's global data privacy program.
• Ensure compliance with POPIA, GDPR, and other relevant data protection regulations.
• Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new projects.
• Advise on data processing agreements, third-party vendor contracts, and cross-border data transfers.
