Job summary

Placements24 seeks a skilled Control and Instrumentation Technician to join the East London processing plant team. You will calibrate, test, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation to ensure reliable operation and safety.

Responsibilities include installing instruments, maintaining PLC/SCADA systems, and assisting engineers with control system upgrades, while following safety standards and documenting activities.

Qualifications

• Must hold a National Diploma or N6 in Control & Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering.
• At least 3 years' instrumentation technician experience in process plants or mining.
• Ability to read P&IDs and electrical schematics; interpret technical manuals.

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, test, and maintain industrial instruments (pressure, temp, flow, level).
• Troubleshoot control systems, PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA; repair faults.
• Support design/modification of control systems and ensure safety procedures are followed.

Our client is looking for a skilled Control and Instrumentation Technician to join their processing plant team in East London. This role is essential for ensuring the reliable operation and maintenance of process control systems, instruments, and automation equipment. You will be responsible for calibrating, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing instrumentation to maintain optimal plant performance and safety standards. Key Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, and maintain a variety of industrial instruments (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow, level sensors).
• Troubleshoot and repair faults in control systems, PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on instrumentation and control equipment.
• Assist engineers in the design, modification, and upgrade of control systems.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safety procedures and company standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance and calibration activities.

Requirements

• National Diploma or N6 qualification in Control and Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Instrumentation Technician, preferably in a process plant or mining environment.
• Proficiency with various types of instrumentation and control valves.
• Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
• Strong understanding of industrial networks and communication protocols.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
